This father’s day, focus on being a role model for oral health and wellness

Our family would like to help you with your father’s day celebrations this month, which is also Oral Health Month. With this in mind, we are dedicating today’s article to all of the dads located in and around the community of Georgetown, TX, and have selected a few tips and recommendations to help you be a great role model for your children—especially when it comes to oral health and wellness.

Below are just a few recommendations for helping your children be mindful of their oral health:

  • Be a good example for your children. Your children are watching everything you do, and by being a great example, you can help guide your children through the journey of healthy smiles. We encourage you to take time to brush and floss your teeth with your children so they understand the importance of good oral health and proper dental hygiene habits.
  • Focus on prevention. Many conditions that negatively impact the smile are preventable, including periodontal disease and tooth decay. With a proactive approach to oral health and wellness, fathers can set an example for their children to follow as well. Making appointments and educating yourself further on ways to protect the smile is always a great idea!
  • Attend your child’s dental appointments. Children may be fearful of visiting the dentist because the office is unfamiliar or may be overwhelming to them. Play a role in their oral health by taking them to their dental appointments and helping them feel at ease when receiving dental care.

Take this father’s day to take charge of your oral health!
